~Welcome!
I'm glad you're here and want to learn more about me and my work.
My name is Samuel Roter (he/him). I am a multidisciplinary artist and chemist committed to tikkun olam (תִּיקּוּן עוֹלָם), or healing the world. I firmly believe in the power of science and storytelling to inspire impactful momentum towards positive, meaningful change. In an increasingly apathetic and conspiratorial world, it is more important now than ever to be an advocate for the sciences and humanities. I have made it my mission to use art and science to bring people together, educate them, and inspire activism, necessitating the reckoning of society's most pressing unanswered questions.
I received my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Theatre from Muhlenberg College. I am currently based in the Cleveland area. Favorite onstage credits include Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812 (Pierre), Everybody (Everybody et al.), The Labyrinth of Desire (Alejandro), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Barfée), and A Chorus Line (Mark). Film credits include Lost and Found in Cleveland (2024), First Time Machine (2024), and Uncle (2021). My undergraduate research focused on developing novel therapeutics for the treatment of neuroinflammation, one of the possible contributors to Alzheimer's disease. In addition, I researched the interfacial properties of polysiloxane fouling-release coatings to ultimately reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Outside of theatre and chemistry, I enjoy photography and the outdoors. There is nothing as refreshing as getting lost in the woods or speeding up a mountain with a camera in hand!
